Zurich to host 2027 summit of fifty heads of state and government

The Federal Council announced on Friday details of the tenth summit of the European Political Community (EPC), which will take place in Switzerland in April 2027. Up to fifty heads of state and government are expected in Zurich.

That Switzerland would host the meeting was already known. What is new is the venue: the summit will be held at the The Circle congress centre, located close to Zurich airport. The government explained the choice by citing the venue's proximity to the airport and its modern infrastructure, considered well suited to an international meeting of this scale. The exact date of the summit has not yet been announced.

An opportunity for the country's image

The Federal Council described organising such a meeting as an important calling card for Switzerland. According to the government, the event will reinforce the country's image as a stable, reliable nation open to the world, capable of bringing together key decision-makers in a safe and efficient setting.

The European Political Community periodically brings together the leaders of numerous countries on the continent to discuss issues of common interest. By hosting the tenth summit, Switzerland will be at the centre of the European diplomatic agenda for a few days in the spring of 2027.
