The movement Avanti con Ticino&Lavoro presented its list on Saturday for the cantonal elections of April 2027. Its goal is to bring Amalia Mirante into the Council of State. The movement puts change at the center of the candidacy.

In 2023, at its first attempt, the movement won three seats on the Grand Council. According to the movement, the time is now right for the next step.

Criticism of the Council of State

The movement accuses the Council of State of confusing collegiality with a culture of silence. It also says the government lacks courage and planning capacity.

In an interview with SEIDISERA, Mirante said: “I fatti parlano chiaro: quattro anni e non c’è stato un problema dei ticinesi risolto da questo Governo” (The facts speak clearly: four years, and this government has not solved a single problem for the people of Ticino).

According to Mirante, members of the government have mainly been busy swapping chairs and departments among themselves. Meanwhile, she adds, the people of Ticino are struggling to make ends meet.

Alongside Mirante on the Council of State list are the two other sitting Grand Council members, Evaristo Roncelli and Giovanni Albertini.

Sergio Savoia, who returns to politics after ten years, is also on the list. He spent three years in parliament with the Socialist Party and then ten with the Greens, before joining Avanti con Ticino&Lavoro.

A change of party could bring accusations of political opportunism. Savoia responds: “Che mi accusino di quello che gli pare” (Let them accuse me of whatever they like). He says he has always done politics on the same principles, and that he found in this movement ordinary people, far from certain dynamics. He adds that he is glad to make his small contribution.

Savoia also says that people in the canton should get personally involved in trying to change things.

Valentina Mühlemann, the movement’s coordinator in Bellinzona, completes the list. She recently won the referendum against the Fortezza. In her view, the project lacked transparency towards the public. The project had been rejected in the most recent votes.
