Partners Group invests over a billion in AVK Power Solutions

The Baar-based group is taking a majority stake in the British company that supplies power systems for data centres. The investment is a bet on demand driven by artificial intelligence.

Partners Group has announced the purchase of a majority stake in AVK Power Solutions. The company, based in Baar in the canton of Zug, is investing more than one billion dollars in equity, around 0.8 billion francs, alongside debt financing.

AVK's current management retains a minority holding. The British company builds power supply systems and has 3.5 gigawatts of installed capacity in Europe, spread across more than 20,000 completed projects.

The money comes from Partners Group's fourth infrastructure programme, which exceeds 15 billion dollars. In infrastructure the group manages 40 billion dollars, out of a total of 186 billion, equal to 151 billion francs.

Why data centre power

The stated rationale concerns the energy needs of computing centres. The expansion of artificial intelligence and cloud services is increasing demand for reliable electricity supply.

This is an investment in the infrastructure that sits upstream of the models, not in the models themselves. The bet is that data centres will keep growing regardless of which companies win the artificial intelligence race.

Partners Group shares gained around one per cent after the announcement. The wider picture remains negative: since the start of 2026 the stock is down 29 per cent, and 54 per cent over five years.

The group was founded in 1996 and has been listed on the Swiss exchange since 2006. It employs 2,000 people across twenty offices, with Baar, Denver and Singapore as regional hubs.

The deal comes on the same day as another announcement. Partners Group has entered exclusive talks to acquire Aroma-Zone, a French natural cosmetics brand.
