Drone hits train station in Dnipro, at least 14 dead
A Russian drone struck the platform of the train station in Dnipro on Thursday, where a train connecting the city to Zaporizhia was stopped. Ukrainian authorities report at least 14 dead and numerous injured.

At least 14 people were killed and many others injured on Thursday in a Russian attack on the Ukrainian city of Dnipro. The death toll was announced on Telegram by the region's governor, Oleksandr Ganzha.
The attack targeted the city's train station. According to the national railway company Ukrzaliznytsia, a drone fell on the station platform, where a train connecting Dnipro to Zaporizhia was stopped at the time. In a statement, the company said people were on the platform at the moment of impact, despite an air raid alert already being in effect.
Railways targeted since the start of the war
Ukraine's rail network has become the country's main transport link since the closure of civilian airspace at the start of the Russian invasion in 2022. Since then, Russia has systematically targeted it across the whole of Ukraine.
In recent months, attacks on locomotives have intensified further. As a result, evacuations of entire trains have also multiplied, ordered whenever there are reports of possible imminent attacks. Ukrzaliznytsia told the AFP news agency in early October that more than 5,800 such cases had been recorded in September alone.
Evacuations mainly affect the regions closest to the front line, in the south and east of the country: Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia. Dnipro, which was struck on Thursday, is the main city of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
